Hanover — Some of the Upper Valley’s most prominent charities deal with serious issues such as homelessness, domestic violence and children receiving intensive care treatment.
At the Covered Bridges Half Marathon, those organizations have been able to run the picturesque course while uniting to raise vital funding.
Now in its 26th year, the race has long donated much of its proceeds to municipal and youth groups in the area. For the last 13 years, it also has welcomed charity teams, whose members are exempt from the popular race’s lightning-quick registration fill-up in exchange for pledging to raise money for the organizations they represent.

For Volunteering to Pace the CBHM Runners
http://cbhalfmarathon.blogspot.com/p/uvrc-pacers.html

The Upper Valley Running Club is excited to have provided pacers since the 2015 Covered Bridges Half Marathon. The UVRC pacers are a group of experienced, local runners that will be with you during the race to help you reach your race day goal. Whether you are finishing your first half marathon or hoping to set a new personal record, run with a pacer to help make it happen.
The pacers will be at the Race Start (Suicide Six Ski Area) in the starting corral roughly 15 minutes before the start of the race. This will give you a chance to talk to them, learn more about the plan, and ask any questions that you might have. They'll be wearing brightly colored shirts or vests that say PACER and holding signs with their goal time, they will be hard to miss.

Pace Groups for 2017

1:30 (~6:51)
1:35
1:40 (~7:38)
1:45
1:50 (~8:23)
1:55
2:00 (~9:10)
2:05
2:10
2:15 (~10:18)
2:20
2:25
2:30 (~11:26)

Anyone who wants to run with one of the pace groups is welcome to do so; they ARE NOT doing one-on-one pacing and there's no need to sign-up.

Basically The PACERS job is to encourage and cheer people on, and to run at a consistent pace so other runners can gauge their own progress.
Check out our Pacer Page for more info!

UVRC is training for the

Covered Bridges Half Marathon this year.

Come join us!

We’ve got two weekly runs to prep for the race.

April and May, we’ll target CBHM specifically. Feel free to come to either or both.

General details below.
In either case, watch the UVRC mailing list (for members), or our Meetup site: https://www.meetup.com/Upper-Valley-Running-Club/ for specific details and up-to-date information.
Tuesday, we have a track workout. We typically meet on the Hanover High Track at 5:30.

In April and May, we will have a workout ready specifically for folks training to run the CBHM on June 4th.
Saturday morning, we have a long run, starting at 9am.

In April and May, we’ll alternate between running on the course in Woodstock and our typical run from Omer and Bob’s in Lebanon.

The official CBHM pacers (provided by UVRC) will be at these runs to help out; come meet the race day pacers.
Please join us at either or both.
You must be a UVRC member to attend regularly ($20 a year, a bargain!), though do feel free to come out and try out a run with us before joining the club.

UVRC membership information: http://uppervalleyrunningclub.org/membership/
Covered Bridges Half Marathon: http://cbhalfmarathon.blogspot.com/

Race is full for 2017, though you can still get an entry if you’re willing to raise money for one of their charities.
See the website for details.

Tentative Saturday schedule (All start at 9am, check Meetup for up-to-date details!)April 1st: Billings Farm to Taftsville Bridge and back, 6 miles.

Hanover — If anyone could survive cancer, the thinking went, it had to be Maribel Sanchez Souther.

A former Dartmouth College All-American track and cross country runner, Big Green coach and a mother of three known for passionate involvement with her family and her adopted hometown, the 41-year-old Hanover resident was the picture of physical and emotional determination.

She completed the local Covered Bridges Half Marathon in an hour and 37 minutes just two days before undergoing a 2015 mastectomy.
